26 years ago, my now wife and I had our first date at South Beach Grill! Tonight, we celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary here. The food has only gotten better. Tonight we had the sweet potato crusted flounder and the shrimp and grits, both were super fresh and delicious. The fried black eyed peas are a must try, and the mashed potatoes were delicious. Take your significant other there, and perhaps your relationship will also flourish.
This was my first time at the South Beach Grill. Everything on the menu looked really good. I heard some regulars talking to some other guests about the fried Black Eyed Peas. I didn’t have an opportunity to try them this time as I didn’t hear the conversation until after I was done with my meal, but I am planning on going back to try them. They really raved about them. I ate out on the patio. The service is very good with friendly, helpful people. I appreciated the view very much, you can see the water from your seat. I chose the catch of the day special for dinner. It was blackened red drum over a bed of seasoned rice with grilled asparagus and salsa verde. The fish is cooked to perfection and seasoned exactly correctly. The rice was the tiniest bit under flavored but, you know how that goes, it is rice. The grilled asparagus was very good and there were also some mushrooms in the dish that were excellent. I could use more of them, but I would also say that, no matter how many of them there were. The parking was a little tight with street parking available. The food was very good and I would guess that everything on the menu is delicious. I’ll absolutely be back.
We had an excellent meal here and everyone working was very friendly. The food was yummy and we were checked on by the manager or owner as we ate. If you've ever been here you know there is somewhat of a bottleneck/high traffic situation near the front door. Even though we were worried about being in the way as we spoke with the hostess, every server/employee who needed to get through asked politely without a hint of annoyance. Very nice people and service.
Always our go to place when we are in Wrightsville Beach. Consistently exceeds expectations! Many beach restaurants rely on location and volume during the season, and dont seem to try very hard. South Beach focuses on local purveyors for their produce and fish, and make most everything from scratch, and get creative with their menu. Love the Grouper Linda, as well as the short ribs. I really liked the fried calamari and the pepper jelly was a nice Southern touch. During the office season, they do half price bottles of wine, so take advantage of that!
First stop in Wilmington and it was a good one! The food was delicious and fresh.
I've been coming to South Beach Grill for over 25 years, and it's still one of my favorite restaurants at Wrightsville Beach. It's rare to find a place that delivers the same exceptional food, service, and atmosphere year after year, but South Beach Grill does exactly that. My go-to dishes are always the Grouper Linda and the Crab & Seafood Nachos—both are absolute classics and never disappoint. The quality and consistency of the food keep me coming back time and time again. The service is always warm, attentive, and professional, making every visit feel special. Add in the beautiful waterfront setting, and it's the perfect place for everything from a casual dinner to celebrating a special occasion. If you're looking for one of the best dining experiences around Wrightsville Beach, South Beach Grill is a must-visit. After more than two decades of dining here, I can confidently say they've earned every one of these five stars.
This seaside restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring only the freshest ingredients. We indulged in several specialties, including the Grouper Linda, sweet potato flounder, pesto pasta Alfredo, and the Lumina burger. The chicken tenders for my child were also fantastic. Each dish was perfectly cooked and utterly delicious. We also enjoyed some local draft beers, which complemented our meal wonderfully. While it's not the cheapest option, the quality of the food and overall experience are undoubtedly worth the price. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone seeking superb seafood in Wrightsville Beach.
We really loved having dinner here. The service was friendly and helpful. The food came out quickly and was delicious. This not a typical beach town restaurant. It's is much, much better.
My Wife and I went on 03Jun2026 and loved the experience. Sweet potato wedges are very good! We shared the taco bowl and the ingredients tasted fresh. We were unable to take a picture of the grouper bites because we ate them so quick! We’re not locals but were treated with respect and our server was very patient with us. I recommend to anybody! People complain about prices but this food is quality and it is locally sourced! Worth every penny.
